A publishing house is merely representational of its publisher and its authors; each of these persons here at Magnifier Publications is in agreement to the following brief statement of their faith: It is not enough to declare "We're Baptists." After all, to be fair, even unbelievers understand that when it comes to religious labels there are enough versions of Baptists to hide plenty of heretics. So this brief article is laid out to provide an understanding of what we believe and what kind of Baptists we are. You will find these beliefs in everything we publish: We Are BaptistWe believe that Baptists have been in existence since the time of Jesus; we hold to the beliefs and practices that visible and true have held to since He established the first church during His earthly ministry. Throughout every century since His first church, we believe there has not ceased to be a visible, local church which believed and practiced Baptist doctrine - even if they did not carry the name Baptist . The title Baptist was often given out pejoratively, as a slur to describe an insistence on immersion after conversion. As such, Baptists believers have endured unspeakable persecution from religious and political powers since the first century to even this present time. Baptists are not Protestants, since they did not originate during or after the Reformational period of Martin Luther. Baptists, unlike Protestants, have no historical connection to the Roman Catholic Church other than their historical and often violent animosity to our Baptist forebears. As for the nature of the Church Christ established we believe it must be local, visible and true to Him. We believe this is the only kind of real church. We believe the "Universal, Invisible Church" to be an false doctrine created by Protestants to counter the Roman Catholic belief of a "Universal, Visible Church" based out of Rome. For more information, read Dan Hall's book "Visible and Valid: The Local Church." We Are FundamentalWe believe it is important to stress the fact that we consider all the teachings of the Scriptures to be vitally important. At the same time, in direct opposition to modernism we stand The chief purposes of Magnifier Publications are to strengthen and promote historic fundamentalism, to defend the faith while exposing and opposing religious compromise, to promote religious liberty and to educate belivers for evangelism. We Are PremillennialUntil the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, at which time He will establish His Millennial Kingdom, we believe the world will not experience peace. In fact, we hold that the world is continuously degrading morally. This is a fulfillment of the Scriptures which says, "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived." (II Timothy 3:13). We believe that Christ will return before His Millenial Kingdom begins to take His believers, the living and the dead, out of this world in what is commonly referred to as the Rapture. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Afterward, the Anti-Christ will be revealed on earth and seven years of tribulation will begin. The tribulation will end with the Lord returning with His saints and Him defeating the Anti-Christ and his forces. Satan will be bound and cast into the bottomless pit, and then the Lord will establish his kingdom here on earth and reign for a thousand years. (Revelation 19-21). We Are MissionaryChrist commanded the Church He established to "preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15) We believe the authority and responsibiliity to reach the world belongs to every true, New Testament, Baptist church. In order for people to be saved, they must hear the Word of God preached. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!... So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:13-15,17). To carry out this command and be obedient to Christ, we must send gospel preachers (missionaries) to both the home and foreign field. We Are IndependentIndividually, every living author as well as the publisher of Magnifier Publications is a member of a Fundamental, Independent Baptist Church. We believe that the local church should autonomous in its polity and organization; they should not be affiliated or connected to any convention or association.Individual churches should work together for the cause of Christ but should avoid any connections that bring them under the authority or domination of conventions, denominations or boards. It is our desire to contend for the faith without being contentious. We can disagree without being disagreeable. We can stand for the faith without being combative. We do rejoice when the gospel is preached and when souls are saved, even though we might not agree completely with the method that is used. Criticism of another man's method does not constitute obedience to Christ's command to carry the gospel to the ends of the earth. We must not only believe in the right way, but we must demonstrate the right way. Jesus is coming soon and we believe we are living in a time for action. |
